Educators increasingly say they can teach AI. The harder question now is whether parents trust schools to use it for learning, not shortcuts.
A new Education Week report on an IBM-commissioned Morning Consult survey found 83% of educators say they feel confident teaching about AI. That matters because the policy debate is quickly becoming an implementation debate: after months of bans, curriculum launches, and teacher-training announcements, systems now need adults who can explain what students are doing, why it matters, and where the boundaries sit.
The unresolved question is parent trust. If parents see AI as shortcut technology, schools will struggle to move beyond defensive rules. If they see teachers using it to strengthen feedback, practice, accessibility, and AI literacy, the same tools become part of basic preparation for modern work.
